From Rock To Mountain
A Fundamental Study of Chinese Landscape Painting
The land and earth is the base for the landscape painting, which composed by rocks, soil and mountains. Starting from the smallest unit, you will learn the techniques of drawing rocks and applying layers of colour.
With a line from bamboo brush, you will draw the basic structure of rocks and attach the texture of shadow, explore the techniques of irregularity and heaviness of the objects. With further development, you will be guided into mountains build up techniques and finally assemble your small rocks shapes into a possible composition of landscape painting in confidence.
With the references images from historic master pieces, teaching samples from old print and photography of real mountains, you will gain a conceptual understand about the natural rule to handle the complicated landscape painting from a simple object. The control toward a prospective white space will also be addressed through the course. Please have your Chinese art supplies ready for this practice, it is a beginning of a formal art travel for the next stage. Guided by six pieces video demonstration, you can handle a piece of land and mountain towards your own meditative nature.
Holding Master Degree in Art Education and over twenty-five years professional experiences, Wenyun Hua's art is a combination of Eastern and Western style, an expression of journey between the two cultures and common understanding. Currently she teaches Art Meditation, Chinese Brush Painting, Art in Mixed Media, Drawing and Painting, Watercolour Woodblock Printmaking courses in various professional art education and art school settings in Toronto, CANADA.
